Huge congratulations to Kieran Mantel who was awarded the Mentoring & Support Apprentice of the Year Award at the inaugural Kaplan Apprenticeship Awards which were held at the Shard in London on Tuesday 12th of December.
Kieran is currently completing the ACA with Kaplan and began his training with Harold Sharp as a graduate in January 2021.
In the last 12 months in particular, Kieran has played a crucial role at Harold Sharp supporting fellow trainees as they complete seats in the audit team as well as being instrumental in developing materials for our Careers Hub, Trainee Handbook and in shaping our Trainee Working Group – all of which are valuable resources that are being built out to support existing and future trainees.
Commenting on the award, Kieran said “I’m really pleased to have won this award – it means a lot to have been nominated by the firm! Fostering a supportive trainee community is so important for the future of the firm and I’m proud to be playing a part in that”.
Rebecca Holloway, who leads the firm’s relationship with Kaplan, added “It is so important for apprentices to be supported at all levels as they balance work and study and home life. It’s not an easy juggling act! It was amazing to join Kieran yesterday and to celebrate so many fantastic achievements, including his own. He should feel very proud of himself!”
Kaplan’s national awards celebrated the achievements of a number of individuals at various stages of their apprenticeship journey.
In addition to Kieran’s award for Mentoring and Support, fellow apprentice Emma Wood was shortlisted for the Personal Development Award on account of her growth journey in the last 12 months and Leeanne Drummond was shortlisted for the Line Manager Award in recognition of her commitment to the development of the three apprentices in her team.
